Personal Flight & Travel Accident Policy

• Benefits

  In the event that the insured person sustains accidental bodily injury, if such results within 104 weeks from an accident in any of the following 3 cases, you will be indemnified according to the benefits in the table below:

  1. You are riding in, boarding or alighting from any licensed public conveyance for which you have paid with your Diners Club card, or
     
  2. You are driving, riding in, boarding or alighting from a self driven car paid with your Diners Club card, or
     
  3. You are driving your own car on business travel having paid for your petrol with your Diners Club card.

• Conditions and Limitations
  1. No indemnity will be paid for more than one of these losses.
  2. In no instance shall the loss exceed US$ 500,000 through the use of any one Diners Club card by any one Cardmember.
  3. Cover also extends to the immediate direct journey to or from the airport, station or terminal wherever primary journey transportation originates or terminates, provided these are undertaken by licensed public transport or private car.
  4. Accidental death or bodily injury must be independent of any other cause and result within two years of the accident in death or loss of limb or eye.
  5. If an insured person suffers death or dismemberment as a result of exposure to the elements, it will be considered as having been caused by accidental bodily injury.
  6. In the event of the disappearance of an insured person if, after a suitable period of time, it is reasonable to believe that death has occurred as a result of accidental bodily injury the death benefit shall become payable subject to a signed undertaking that if the belief is subsequently found to be wrong, the death benefit shall be refunded to the insurer.
  7. This insurance does not cover loss directly or indirectly from:
     1. Bacterial infections or other diseases or from medical or surgical treatment except where caused by injuries as covered in this policy, or
     2. Injuries resulting in hernia
     3. Suicide or attempted suicide
     4. Unnecessary exposure to danger, unless trying to save a life
     5. War or similar risks
     6. Use of alcohol or drugs not prescribed by a Physician.

    Personal Accident Cover

• Benefits

  If the Cardmember, members of his immediate family and up to three accompanying business associates sustain accidental bodily injury while on a journey of more than 100 kilometres away from their principal residence, where over 50% of the total travel and accommodation expenses were paid for with the Diners Club card . The Insured Person will be indemnified according to the table of benefits given below, when the injury results in any of the following losses within 104 ( one hundred and four ) weeks after the occurrence of the accident:

• Conditions and Limitations
  1. No indemnity will be paid for more than one of these losses.
  2. In no instance shall the loss exceed US$ 500,000 through the use of any one Diners Club card by any one Cardmember.
  3. No indemnity will be paid if another claim has been made under Flight/Travel Accident Policy
  4. Bodily injury must be independent of any cause and result within two years of the accident in death or loss of limb or eye.
  5. If an Insured Person suffers death or dismemberment as a result of exposure to the elements, it will be considered as having been caused by accidental bodily injury .
  6.   The insurance with respect to the following hazards shall not apply:

  1. To loss caused directly or indirectly, wholly or partly by :
     1. bacterial infections ( except pyogenic infections which shall occur through an accidental cut or wound ) ;
     2. any other kind of disease ;
     3. medical or surgical treatment ( except such as may be necessary solely by injuries covered by this policy and performed within the time provided in the policy ) ;
  2. To any bodily injury which shall result in hernia;
  3. To suicide or attempted suicide;
  4. War or similar risk;
  5. Participation in any professional sports;
  6. Engaging in winter sports, mountaineering or rock climbing, pot holing, racing other than on foot, use of underwater breathing apparatus, use of two or three - wheeled motor vehicles, sky diving, piloting an aircraft ;
  7. To loss caused as a result of breaking a criminal or civil law.

    Medical & Emergency Travel Expenses

• Benefits

  If during a journey of more than 100 kilometres away from their principal place of residence where over 50% of total travel and accommodation expenses were paid for by the Diners Club card, the Cardmember, members of his immediate family and 3 of his accompanying business associates, fall unexpectedly ill or sustain accidental bodily injury or die, they will be reimbursed in respect of medical expenses and emergency travel expenses which are necessarily incurred as a direct result for up to US$ 100,000.00 subject to a deductible fee of US$ 300.00 for each and every claim.

• Definitions

  " Medical Expenses " is the cost of medical, surgical or other remedial attention, treatment or appliances prescribed by a medical practitioner including all hospital, nursing home and ambulance charges .

  " Emergency Travel Expenses " is the additional cost of travel, accommodating and rescue incurred in respect of the insured person or any relative or friend who has to necessarily travel to or remain with or escort the insured person. Funeral expenses or cost of transporting the insured persons personal baggage to his/her country of residence up to US$ 2,500.00

  " Medical Practitioner " is a doctor of medicine or osteopathy licensed to render medical services or perform surgery in accordance with the laws of the governing jurisdiction. Excluding chiropractors and physiotherapists.

• Conditions and Limitations

  No expenses shall be reimbursed under this policy with respect to expenses incurred :

  1. For services, supplies or treatment, including any period of hospital confinement, which were not recommended, approved and certified as necessary and reasonable by a medical practitioner ;
  2. For suicide or attempted suicide or any other self inflicted injury;
  3. For injury sustained while participating in professional athletics;
  4. War or similar risks;
  5. For sickness resulting from pregnancy, childbirth or miscarriage;
  6. For miscarriage resulting from accident;
  7. For routine physical or other examinations where there are no objective indications of impairment in normal health, and laboratory diagnostic or X-ray examinations except in the course of a disability established by the prior call or attendance of a physician;
  8. For cosmetic or plastic surgery;
  9. For any mental and nervous disorders or rest cures;
  10. For elective surgery;
  11. For dental care, except as the result of injury to natural teeth caused by accident or incurred for emergency treatment;
  12. For eye refraction or eye examinations unless caused by accidental bodily injury incurred while insured hereunder;
  13. In connection with the use of alcohol or drugs not prescribed by a licensed physician;
  14. For all pre-diagnosed medical/surgical procedures recommended by a medical practitioner or treated for prior to travel or on a continuous basis;
  15. For congenital anomalies and conditions arising out of or resulting from;
  16. For expenses which are non medical in nature except with respect to emergency travel services;
  17. For the ordinary cost of a one way airplane ticket used in the transportation back to the Insured Person's country where an air ambulance benefit is provided;
  18. For specific named hazards : motorcycle driving, scuba diving, skiing, mountain climbing, sky diving, amateur racing and piloting an aircraft;
  19. Treatment paid for or furnished under any other individual or group policy, or under any mandatory government program or facility set-up for treatment without cost to any individual .

    Personal Liability Policy

• Benefits

  You will be indemnified on your insured journey against legal liability for damages arising from accidental injury to another person ( not under contract of service to you ) or from accidental loss of, or damage to, property happening during the journey, for :

  1. up to US$ 1,000,000.00 for any one event
  2. claimant's costs and expenses for which you are legally liable
  3. all other costs and expenses with insurer's written consent
• Definitions

  "Event" is one occurrence or all occurrences in a series attributable to one occurrence.

  "Injury" includes bodily injury, death, disease or illness.

• Conditions and Limitations
  1. Diners Club must be given full, written notice of any events causing a claim.
  2. Every letter, writ, summons etc. must be forwarded to Diners Club as soon as possible.
  3. Diners Club must be told immediately if you are aware of any prosecution or inquiry etc. which may cause a claim.
  4. No admission, promise or payment must be made by you without the Insurers written consent.
  5. The insurers are entitled to control the defence, settlement or prosecution of any claim in your name and has full authority in any such proceedings.
  6. The insurers may at any time pay you the claim settlement amount up to US$ 1,000,000.00 and then will be under no further obligation.
  7. No indemnity will be provided where legal liability arises from your profession or business, or from possession, use or ownership by or on behalf of yourself of any mechanical device or vehicle or from war and similar risks.
  8. No indemnity will be provided in respect of damage to your property giving rise to legal liability.
  9. No indemnity is provided in respect of legal liability arising out of damage to any building which you own, rent or occupy.
  10. No indemnity is provided for legal liability as a result of common activities among family or associates.
  11. No indemnity is provided for legal liability as a result of any wilful or malicious act on your part.

    Flight Delay Policy

• Benefits

  Provided that you have charged your ticket to your Diners Club card you will be credited up to US$ 600 for essential purchases on your Diners Club card of meals, refreshments, hotel and airport transfer expenses if you are caused a delay of more than 4 hours in your journey by :

  1. delay or cancellation of your booked and confirmed flight.
  2. denial of boarding due to over-booking on your booked and confirmed flight.
  3. late arrival of your connecting flight causing you to miss your onward connection.
  4. late arrival (more than 1 hour) of public transport intended to transport you to the departure airport, charged to your Diners Club card, causing you to miss your flight.
     This cover will also be provided to other insured persons travelling with you if their tickets have also been charged to your Diners Club card.
• Conditions and Limitations
  1. Notification of a claim must be made within 21 days of a delay occurring.
  2. Maximum credit claim is the total for each delay irrespective of the number of persons travelling.
  3. The ABC World Airways Guide will be the general reference guide to the scheduled carrier's time table confirmed on the journey ticket.
  4. No claim will be permitted if comparable alternative transport has been made available within 4 hours of an actual connecting flight arrival time .
  5. No claim will be allowed unless the insured person fails to check-in according to the itinerary supplied, unless it is due to a strike.
  6. No claim will be permitted if the delay is due to a strike or industrial action existing or announced before the start of the journey.
  7. No claim will be permitted if the delay is due to withdrawal of aircraft from service by any Civil Aviation Authority of which notice had been given before the start of the journey.

    Baggage Delay Policy

• Benefits

  Provided that you have charged your ticket to your Diners Club card you will be credited up to US$ 750 on charges made to your Diners Club card for costs of emergency purchases of necessary replacement clothing and toiletries if your luggage, checked into the custody of the airlines on which you are travelling, fails to arrive within 4 hours after you reach your destination.

  This cover will also be provided to the other insured persons travelling with you if their tickets have been charged to your Diners Club card.

• Conditions and Limitations
  1. Notification of a claim must be made within 21 days of a delay occurring.
  2. Maximum credit claims are the total for each irrespective of the number of persons travelling.
  3. The ABC World Airways Guide will be the general reference guide to the scheduled carrier's time table confirmed on the journey ticket.
  4. Reasonable measures must have been taken to recover baggage by yourself and any accompanying insured persons.
  5. Notification of any apparent delay to baggage must be made immediately to the airline concerned at the destination airport.
  6. Confiscation of baggage by customs or any Government Authority cannot form the basis for any claim.
  7. Claims will be considered for purchases of essential clothing and toiletries only if such purchases are made within 4 days of actual arrival at destination and are charged to your card account .

   

    Baggage Loss Policy

• Benefits

  Provided that you have charged your ticket to your Diners Club card, if your checked-in luggage is lost, stolen or destroyed you will be indemnified for replacement up to US $ 1500. If luggage is damaged, the cost of repair will be paid up to US $ 1,000 in respect of all Insured Persons within Region I ( as defined hereunder).

  If the journey involves travel other than in Region I, the cost of repair paid will be up to US$ 2,000.00 in respect of all insured persons.

  " Region I " - includes the following countries : Bahrain, India, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, U.A.E. and Yemen.

• Conditions and Limitations
  1. Any amount paid under the baggage delay policy will be deducted from the total amount paid if the personal baggage proves to be permanently lost.
  2. The Company will not indemnify the Insured Person for the first US$ 300.00 of any claim arising out of a single incident .
  3. The Company will not indemnify the Insured Person for more than 10% of the appropriate sum insured in respect of any one item .
  4. The Company will not indemnify the Insured Person :
     1. For the loss of accounts, bills, currency, postal or money orders, deeds, travellers cheques, evidences of travel tickets, travel tickets, debt, money, notes, securities, petrol or other coupons and other similar valuables .
     2. For loss, destruction or damage to contact lenses or sports equipment while in use .
     3. For chipping, scratching or breakage of glass, china or other fragile articles unless due to fire, theft or accident to the conveyance in which they were being transported.
     4. For loss, destruction or damage caused by wear and tear depreciation, moth, vermin, atmosphere or climatic conditions or any other gradually deteriorating cause .
     5. For loss, destruction or damage caused by any process of cleaning, dyeing, repairing or restoring .
     6. For loss, destruction or damage due to delay, confiscation or detention by order of any government or public authority or mechanical or electrical breakdown .
     7. For loss, destruction or damage to any business property, i.e. samples, tools etc. or any property arising from radiation or any other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly or compound .
     8. For any personal baggage which is lost, damaged, stolen or destroyed while being shipped as freight or under a bill of lading .
     9. For loss, destruction of damage directly occasioned by pressure waves, caused by aircraft or other aerial devices travelling at sonic or supersonic speeds or war or similar risks .
     10. or loss, destruction or damage of vehicles or their accessories or loss of property from a vehicle left unattended unless all doors and luggage compartments are locked.
     11. For any loss that is not reported either to the appropriate police authority or transport carrier with 24 hours of occurrence.
     12. All claims must be accompanied by a copy of the claim made to the carrier or his authorised agent .

    Baggage / Personal Effects

• Benefits

  Provided that you have charged your ticket to your Diners Club card, you will be reimbursed up to US $ 200 per article ( $ 1000 in total per claim after a deductible of $ 100 ), for DOCUMENTED loss or damage to baggage and personal effects owned by and accompanying you during the insured journey, not to exceed 30 days.

  " Documented loss, theft or damage " includes police or other local authority reports or documentation from the appropriate party responsible for the loss .

• Conditions and Limitations
  1. The amount payable in respect of any one article shall not exceed the amount shown on the Schedule .
  2. The Company may make payment or at its opinion reinstate or repair as it may elect in respect of articles not older that one year .
  3. The Company may make payment or at its opinion reinstate or repair subject to due allowance of wear and tear and depreciation in respect of articles of more than one year old .
  4. Loss or damage must occur :
     1. While the baggage or personal effect is/are in the hotel or a common carrier and proof of such loss must be obtained in writing from the hotel management or the Common Carrier management and such proof must be provided to the Company, or
     2. as the result of theft of the baggage or personal effects from an insured person provided that such loss must be reported to the police having jurisdiction at the place of the loss no more than twenty four (24) hours from the incident. Any claim must be accompanied by written documentation from such police .
  5. An insured person must take every possible step to ensure that the baggage or personal effects are not left unattended ,
  6. Benefits for baggage and personal effects will be in excess of any amount paid or payable by a common carrier or other third party responsible for the loss. An insured person's reimbursement will be reduced by the deductible stated in the schedule of benefits .
